Large freeform polki kundan stones of extraordinary organic beauty, cream freshwater pearl fringe, black onyx seed bead clusters, and oxidized gold elephant motifs of Rajput iconographic significance — a composition that draws directly from the jewelry of the Mughal and Rajput courts at the height of their splendor.
The wide choker necklace is the soul of the set: a semi-rigid collar of approximately 5 to 6cm height in a full-coverage bib construction of large freeform/organic-shaped polki kundan stones. Each polki stone — flat-back, irregularly shaped in triangular, pear, and freeform geometries of approximately 15 to 25mm — is set in an individual antique gold foil bezel with fine gold wire borders, the internal light of the polki stones creating the distinctive, cloud-like luminosity that has made polki kundan the most prized form of subcontinent bridal jewelry for five centuries. The stones are arranged in two irregular rows creating a full-coverage bib of unbroken polki brilliance. At the center front, one large round grey/lavender rose-cut cabochon of approximately 18mm provides a tonal focal point of understated sophistication against the surrounding polki field. Flanking this center stone, two oxidized gold elephant motifs face each other in perfect heraldic symmetry — each elephant rendered with intricate carved body detail in oxidized gold, their trunks raised in the auspicious position of blessing and prosperity.
